Be Prepared The Medford Township Office of Emergency Management coordinates the response of our police, fire, and emergency medical services personnel during severe weather and other emergency events. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is also coordinated through the OEM.
Residents are urged to take steps to prepare themselves for any type of emergency event by making an emergency kit, and forming a family plan. Suggested items for a kit include: 3 day supply of non-perishable food and water, a battery-operated radio, flashlight with extra batteries, medications, a first aid kit, waterproof storage of important documents, and personal toiletries. In additions, families should plan a location to meet if separated, make provisions for pets, assure vehicles have adequate gas, and fully charge a cell phone. Visit the "Help You Prepare" link for more information.
Residents can also receive training on preparedness and emergency response through the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Persons receiving the training can choose to take the training to prepare themselves and their family, or if they choose they can join the team and be available to help their neighbors during unexpected emergencies and during special events in town. The initial training is eight-weeks long and includes instruction in first aid, light rescue, fire suppression, and emergency preparedness. Anyone interested may contact the Department of Public Safety at 609-953-3291.
